i write ...

... when i get sick and tired of being sick and tired ... I write. About systems. Culture. Race. Health. Public Relations. Media. Community. The things we inherit, the things we normalize and the things we might need to change. Below is a little bit of all of it.

I’ve been writing about organizations, culture, community, systems and human behavior for more nearly two decades. I’ve pulled forward three pieces from my 2014 archive, along with one current essay that reflects how I think and write today.

Across the years, the throughline is the same: I am interested in what sits underneath the visible problem—the systems, assumptions and human behaviors shaping what happens next.

#PR Is More Than Publicity | 2014
Why sustainable communications requires more than visibility. It requires organizations to examine what they do, how they operate and what has to change.

Corporate Social Responsibility Should Not Be a Brand Campaign | 2014
On the relationship between mission, business strategy, community impact, partnership and measurable outcomes.

On Selling Out: What Has Your Degree Done for Your Community Lately? | 2014
A reflection on culture, responsibility and what it means to move beyond identifying problems toward contributing to solutions.

When Oppression Becomes Sacred | 2026
A current example of my human-systems thinking: what happens when inherited beliefs become protected from examination, and how curiosity can help us question what we have inherited without dehumanizing one another.
