Mama :: A Social Media Photo Project

COCOIV, DOPEMOMAPPROVED and BLKMAMASSAY have joined forces to make black mothers go viral on Mother’s Day 2020 with Mama, a social media photo project.

Mama honor the unique and cultural beauty of black motherhood. Black mothers and daughters will post photos and stories that tell stories of their special relationships, offer the best advice they’ve received from their black mother, aunt, sister or friend; and what they enjoy about motherhood. The stories will give people a peek into the world of black motherhood, with all the richness and history. It will explore the complexities of and the history of black women in America through the lens of black motherhood. A fitting tribute on a day set aside to honor mothers all around the world. - after all, we gave birth to the world.

As a part of the project, two deserving moms will win a Mother’s Day prize pack worth nearly $1000.

Join them by posting photos and stories of you, your mom, aunts, grandmothers or mother figures on Instagram on Sunday, May 10 using the hashtag #LovingYouIsFoodForMySoul. Here are a few ways you can honor them on that special day :: tell a funny or heartwarming story about the black mothers in your circle; tell us why you love being a black mother; and/or honor the black mothers you know with a special thank you message.
